To be honest, I was surprised to see how well the carpet matched the interior. Normally, when we make a single carpet, we see it as a 2-dimensional graphic, so the product is completed almost exactly as we imagined. However, with this WOOLTILE, a large part of the final product is left up to the user’s way of putting it together, so even if you have an image in mind, there are parts that you won’t understand until the product is delivered. After delivering and laying out this carpet in the TOKYO CRAFT ROOM this time, I realized once again the beauty of ATWTP’s design. We have completed a wonderful product that surpassed our imagination.
Mr. Hotta of Hotta Carpet lays out the completed carpet in the TOKYO CRAFT ROOM and talks about the scene. A total of eleven types of carpets were laid out in three places in the room: the “Line” series of three colors and three patterns expressed in lines, the “Plain” series in ivory, and the “Eye” series in blue, in a combination that ATWTP thought up for this room.
In the living space with the sofa and table, one line of blue and orange and a plain are used. It blends in well with the interior design of the sofa and curtains, not only adding color to this large space, but also creating a soft and comfortable feeling that makes you want to lie down.At the entrance, three orange lines are laid out in two rows alternating in different directions. The simple but playful combination gives a radiant impression that unravels the heart of anyone who visits this room.At the foot of the kitchen is a plane, with two horizontal rows of five pieces that fit perfectly into the width of this space. On the far right is a piece of ATWTP’s iconic EYE. It goes well with the wood, giving it an elegant yet playful feel.
WOOLTILE is a pattern that can be freely combined with any size of space, and the first suggestion was expressed here at TOKYO CRAFT ROOM.
We have added an essence of fun to the design of this square carpet. It’s like a game of connecting squares. It could be simple, it could be random. Above all, it is important to ‘play’ with these squares.(ATWTP)
Due to the impact of COVID-19, ATWTP has not yet been able to see the finished product in the room. However, through this WOOLTILE, which expands infinitely from a single piece, we can once again feel the power and joy of design and manufacturing. This process itself may be the craft of a new future in a new era.
